SLIT

In Slit, Young engages the surface through a deliberate act of incision, transforming the picture plane into a site of entry. A cut traverses the upper layer, activating the space beneath and introducing depth through revelation rather than accumulation.

The slit functions as a threshold—at once dividing and connecting. Layers are not removed but reoriented, producing a measured tension between structure and exposure. Through this restrained gesture, the work examines how minimal intervention can recalibrate perception, allowing interior space to register as form.
